Security Education for Users

Users often erroneously believe that security is the preorgative of only IT managers. Consequently, users pay little attention to information security and often do things that jeopardize the security of information. Recently publicized events, such as laptop thefts that lead to exposure of sensitive information and costly countermeasures to prevent future exposures, not to mention potential lawsuits, only highlight the reactive nature of security countermeasures. The weakest link, from an information security standpoint, is not technology, but users. It is imperative, therefore, that businesses invest in education and training programs to prepare users to be cognizant of security threats and be proactive in protecting information against them. In the absence of user education, the chances of sensitive information being compromised and exposed are significantly higher. In the long run, correcting the consequences of security breaches will always be significantly more expensive than instituting user education programs that prevent security exposures from occurring.

Training Users for Inreased Productivity

Computer software, such as Microsoft Word or Excel, may seem overwhelming to many but can be used to accomplish a variety of tasks that users want done. With a multitude of products available and the complexity associated with each product, the task of using software often appears very daunting. A vast majority of users may not know

  • How to use software to its fullest potential,
  • Which software is appropriate for a particular task, and
  • How to accomplish a particular task using a software they may have installed on their computers.

These problems have the potential of making users less productive, less efficient, and less effective in completing tasks assigned to them.  With the large number of software available, each with a specific purpose, these problems are exponentially magnified. Yet, a lot can be accomplished by using just a few core features that are available in a particular software. We offer help with using a variety of computer software, from standard progams such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and Powerpoint) to more intricate and specialized programs such as Quickbooks and Quicken. With over 20 years of experience in IT and computer education, we can assist you with a majority of training needs to help users become more productive.
